Welcome to our web site!
May 8, 2007
- Thought you might be interested in pictures of
Adara's Prom night (before pictures only)...
- Also, Adara's team won the AYSO Soccer Tournament
U19G championship match 2-1 against their main rival!!! Adara scored
the first of the team's goals to tie mid way through the 2nd half and set up
the team to get the 2nd goal with less than 30 seconds left in the game.
What a thriller!
April 23, 2007
- It's amazing how fast everything seems to be
moving these days. I thought I'd get a chance to update the site in
late March, then again in early April but here it is the end of April and
I'm just now getting to update the website. The first thing you may
note is that some of this years events have disappeared and others have been
added...
- Adara is no longer playing club soccer although she is
still playing AYSO soccer.
After 8 years of playing competitive soccer, she's decided that she won't be
playing in college and that there's no need for all of the stress associated
with it. Her love of the "beautiful game" hasn't changed, just the
level of competition and intensity.
March 4, 2007
- Can you believe that March is already here?
The old adage about March coming "in like a lion" was true this year with
some pretty severe weather. I think the same could be said about
2007... it must have come "in like a lion" because we've been incredibly
busy this year already. Kerry & Tom have both been working some pretty
long hours, Tom's been doing quite a bit of travel for work and Adara has
been playing lots of soccer (indoor & outdoor); participating in vocal
activities and beginning the search for the perfect college. Kat &
Andy have been doing well but one of their kids, Bastian (male cat), has
been quite ill for the last few weeks and they've been struggling to bring
Bastian back to full health. Things don't seem to be slowing down in
the near future but we're working to keep them all in balance. Here's
a quick rundown of recent significant events and some that we've got coming
up soon:
Upcoming Events
— The Sanders' Family Reunion [6/13 -
???] will be held in Coupeville, WA (near Seattle). It looks
like all of Carl and Duane's kids and their families will be able to
attend. There may even be some of the "adopted" kids from
years gone by.
—
Classical Singer's
National HS Competition '07
[5/25-5/26] will be held at Union Square in San Francisco, CA.
Adara will compete for
over $565,000 in scholarships at top college and conservatory
music programs and will participate in master classes and seminars
taught by nationally recognized faculty. (Tom & Kerry get to
go enjoy San Francisco, too. <grin>)
Past Events in 2007
— AYSO 2007
TN Valley Soccer Tournament [5/4-5/6] Recreational league soccer tournament in
Knoxville. Adara's team won the U19G championship match
2-1 against their main rival!!! Adara scored the first of the
team's goals to tie mid way through the 2nd half and set up the team
to get the 2nd goal with less than 30 seconds left in the game.
What a thriller!
— Tennessee
All-State Chorus [4/18-4/21] held at Nashville, TN.
Adara was a Soprano I for the Tennessee Women's All-State
Chorus. They performed: Sing Creation's Music On by
Stephen Paulus, Stabat Mater by Pergolesi, Psalm 23 by
Z. Randall Stroope, Hamisha Asar by F. Jagoda, Living in a
Holy City by Stephen Hatfield, A Living Song by David
Brunner, Untraveled Worlds by Paul Halley.
—
UTK
Vocal Solo & Ensemble Festival [4/14] held by UT Knoxville
School of Music in the Alumni Building. Adara performed two
contrasting classical pieces and received a Superior rating.
— The First Wedding Anniversary Celebration [4/8] for
Kat and Andy. They report that they had a great time in St
Louis and that the wedding cake tasted as good after a year as it
did on their wedding day. Sounds promising...
— The Great Easter Egg Hunt [4/6-4/8] held
near Patoka, IL. We all (including Kat & Andy) visited the Towler clan for Easter weekend and participated in the
search for thousands of Easter eggs. Many pinochle and other
games were enjoyed along with rousing cries of "Set the
dealer!"
—
ACDA State Choral Festival [4/11] held at Farragut, TN. Adara
sang in
both the Bearden High School groups: BHS Treblemakers show
choir and Bearden Singers select chorus.
— J.B.
Lyle Choral Festival [2/28] held at Farragut, TN.
Adara sang in both the Bearden High School groups: BHS
Treblemakers show choir and Bearden Singers select
chorus. Both groups received a rating of "Superior" and
qualified for the ACDA State Choral Festival shown above.
—
GSC Fury College Challenge
[2/24-2/26] soccer college showcase weekend in Memphis, TN. The weather didn't
cooperate (rain, storms and cold on Saturday) so the games were
affected but the team got to play against some very stiff
competition from FL, MO and IL.
—
Classical Singer's
Regional HS Competition '07
[2/3] held at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. This
was a competition where the top 3 vocal soloists qualified
to go to the national finals in San Francisco, CA and compete for
over $565,000 in scholarships at top college and conservatory
music programs. Adara will be going to San Francisco!!!
—
Triangle Football Friendlies
[1/26-1/28] soccer college showcase weekend in Fayetteville, NC, where Adara got to
play goalkeeper against some of the top teams in the country.
Her team lost their games but she did a great job in keeping the
ball out of the net. She had 29 saves in one of the games as
compared to a typical game where a goalkeeper gets around 5-10
saves.
