Lucky 2007

Here's our salute to the performing arts in the Towler family!

November 18, 2006

  • Today was the All-East TN Choir performance and we have some great news to share!  Adara was selected as one of the 2006 East TN Vocal Assn (ETVA) "Vocal Scholarship" winners for having the highest audition score as a 1st Soprano in the eastern TN region. Hooray for Adara!!!  (Dad took a picture of the winners.)

  • Adara performs tonight in CRAZY FOR YOU at Bearden High School in Knoxville.

(Adara writes:  What is it?- A hilarious show about a banker that goes from New York to Navada and falls in love with the only girl in Deadrock. In an attempt to help save her father's theater he arranges to bring the Zangler Follies to Deadrock....but little did he know what all would end up happening to the little town of Deadrock and to the girl he fell in love with!! Filled with lots of comedy and fun.
When is it?- It is this (11/9) Thursday and (11/11) Saturday at 7:30pm, and (11/12) Sunday at 2:00pm.

And for my friends that really know me...if I haven't convinced you to see the show yet I have one more incentive....I have to wear HOT PINK with fluffyness, sequins, glitter, feathers, and lacey-netting stuff.....and if you want blackmail then you have to come to the show and see me in it in order to use it!! Plus I have a small and very brief solo...very brief...but I still have one.)

  • Kathryn opens tonight in a "world premiere" of a new play called "Widdershins" by Don Nigro as the cast and crew prepare to take it to the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) competition.  Here's her description and explanation:
Kat says:

I have a new show coming up it's called "Widdershins" by Don Nigro. Thought you all might be interested in it! The story of this play is an Edwardian murder mystery...actually, it's a disappearing mystery. A family of four--mom, dad & the two daughters--sits down for dinner, & the next thing we know they've vanished without a trace. (I play a servant girl for the family that has disappeared.) The story revolves around an Inspector Ruffing as he deals with his own limitations & ghosts while he tries to figure out what happened to the English family. This show messes w/your sensibilities & sucks you into a darker world of spirits, history, superstition, & stories. One last thing to mention about this play is that it has NEVER before been published or performed. That being said, these performances will be WORLD Premiere right here @ Pellissippi State! Isn't that WONDERFUL!? Here is the show info:

The cast includes: Lisa Garcia, Kevin Velasco, Caroline Blasius, Dani Scott, Bonnie Blalock, Robbi Griffith, Glen Ellington, Andy Riggs, Adrienne Scarcella, & Kathryn Hale (me! hehehe).

More info: As we did for The Kentucky Cycle (2003) and The Servant of Two Masters (2005), we are taking this show to the KCACTF competition. We start at the State level, which this year is being held in Johnson City, TN. (that is close enough to drive up & back for a show, if you cannot come see it the first 2 weekends) If...I mean WHEN we advance from there :) we go the Regional Competition in February which is being held in Georgia, then beyond that is the exhibition performance @ The Kennedy Center (an all expenses paid trip!) in April.
